What Is Thermage and What Can It Do?

Thermage

No matter what you do to protect your skin, your age is eventually going to catch up with you. Blemishes such as wrinkles and sagging skin are extremely difficult to deal with on your own, and that is why we are proud to offer all of our patients the revolutionary new treatment known as Thermage Treatments. This technology reduces the appearance of age-related imperfection by gently heating your skin and triggering the production of fresh collagen. Thermage RF can be carried out almost anywhere on the body including the face, neck, chest, hands, and shoulders.

Treating Blemishes With RF Energy

Radiofrequency energy is now being used to treat many different imperfections ranging from thin lines around the outside of the mouth to deep nasolabial wrinkles. When the skin is heated with RF energy, the body reacts as if the soft tissue is being damaged. In the weeks following each appointment, your dermis and epidermis will be flooded with collagen, elastin, and other important substances. Those molecules create thick bands that pull your skin tight and tone the soft tissue. Even though you won’t notice any changes to your skin right away, the full results could last for over a year with the proper aftercare.

Why Thermage®?

Invasive procedures can be effective in some situations, but many patients aren’t ready for the long-term side effects of surgical lifts and tucks. Each appointment takes around 45 minutes to complete, and you should be able to immediately resume all normal activities. Most patients notice distinct improvements within two months of the final appointment, and you can easily maintain those results for 18 months or longer.

Your Thermage® Appointment

The overall length of your appointment depends on a wide variety of factors including the severity of the blemishes and the size of the treatment site. During your treatment, you can relax in a chair while one of our team members guides a small device directly over the imperfections. You will most likely feel nothing more than gentle warmth as the machine heats up your soft tissue. The most common side effects include redness and sensitivity, but those issues fade away after an hour or two.

If you are ready to look as young as you feel, then you might be the perfect Thermage Treatments candidate. This non-invasive procedure is one of the best treatments for fine lines, loose skin, and wrinkles. Contact us today at Worcester Dermatology Associates or Chelmsford Dermatology Associates and schedule your consultation to learn more about this advanced cosmetic technology. We proudly serve Massachusetts with offices in Chelmsford and Worcester.
