What is RADIESSE?

RADIESSE is an injectable dermal filler that brings both temporary and long-lasting volume correction to wrinkles and fine lines.  In addition to correcting the signs of aging on the face, RADIESSE® is also the only dermal filler that is FDA-approved for hand augmentation.

How Does it Work?

What distinguishes RADIESSE® from many other dermal fillers is its unique Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) formula. Like hyaluronic acid-based fillers, RADIESSE® injections provide correction immediately after they’ve been injected into the treatment area. This initial period of quick volume typically lasts for about three months.

As the CaHA microspheres metabolize, they leave behind the patient’s own collagen. This brings both short-term results to the treatment area and long-term improvements in the way the produces collagen and functions overall, and enables the results of a single injection to last for a year or longer.

What Can it Treat?

RADIESSE® excels at treating deep set wrinkles and lines on both the face and the hands. Some of the most recognizable facial features it can treat include:

This injectable can also be used successfully for minor cheek enhancement, chin reshaping,  and jawline contouring.

What is a RADIESSE® Treatment Like?

Like JUVEDERM®, RADIESSE® is FDA-approved to be mixed with lidocaine, a mild anesthetic. This significantly improves the amount of comfort that patients feel during the procedure. The injection session itself typically takes 15 minutes to complete. The results of a treatment can last for up to a year or longer depending on each individual patient’s unique state of health.

While patients usually don’t experience any downtime after undergoing treatment, possible side effects include itching, swelling, discoloration, tenderness, bruising, or mild irritation. Fortunately, these side effects are mild and tend to subside within a few days of treatment.
