If you’re familiar with the world of injectables, you probably have heard a great deal about dermal fillers and neuromodulators. These are the two most common class of aesthetic injectable treatments. KYBELLA® is in a league of its own. Neither a dermal filler or a neuromodulator, it’s primary component is a compound called deoxycholic acid. When injected into the body, this compound destroys fat cells and helps them be reabsorbed back into the body. It is the only FDA-approved injectable that serves this purpose.
While KYBELLA® isn’t as well known as other injectables, it has nonetheless undergone rigorous clinical testing to receive its FDA approval. It has been received by over 1,600 patients worldwide and has a well-characterized, trusted safety profile.
What to Expect
Multiple KYBELLA® treatments are needed for this treatment to be as effective as possible. The ideal number of injections is typically a series of six, but this number can either be higher or lower depending upon your unique condition. Each session typically takes somewhere between 15-20 minutes, making KYBELLA® a casual, lunchtime procedure. Results begin to become visible within 2-4 sessions, improving over time as your fat cells are removed from the chin area.
Like other injectable treatments, KYBELLA® has a few common side effects associated with it. They include swelling, bruising, pain at the site of injection, numbness, redness, and hardness. Fortunately, these are typically mild and should subside within a few days. If you experience muscle weakness or difficulty swallowing following treatment, postpone future injections immediately and contact your doctor.
Ideal Candidates
